"We help families flourish in their new role as parents."

A personalised service offering professional antenatal, postnatal and lactation care.

About

My private midwife is a business owned and run by a local Adelaide midwife, Kate Bergamasco, offering empathic  support for women and families during pregnancy and after birth of their baby

The Australian Government in a review of maternity services in 2010 found that women with uncomplicated pregnancies benefit from midwifery care during their pregnancy.

As a result of this review, the Australian Government has provided the opportunity for suitably experienced and qualified midwives to apply for a Medicare provider number while  working  collaboratively with an obstetrically trained medical officer (GP or Obstetrician).

Antenatal Services – Adelaide

The antenatal journey is extremely exciting, but can be quite daunting for first time parents as they have many questions and sometimes concerns about the pregnancy and their labour.

My role as your midwife is to help alleviate and listen to your concerns so that by the time your baby arrives you feel prepared for your changing role from couple to family

I am fortunate to have a collaborative agreement with a supportive obstetrician in North Adelaide. I am able to provide the benefits of midwifery care with the support of an obstetrician if complications arise during the pregnancy. I offer clients who are booked with Dr Hillen  the additional education, preparation and emotional support to ensure they feel supported and prepared for their role as parents.

Postnatal Services – Adelaide

I am pleased to offer postnatal home visits to clients (referred from any obstetrician or paediatrician) within the metropolitan areas for up to 6 weeks in the home or in rooms at St Josephs Cottage,89 Strangways Terrace, North Adelaide.

 I have a particular interest in:

  • supporting parents with their choice of feeding method;
  • managing infant settling;
  • and providing  parents the opportunity to discuss their birth experiences.

I understand the problems that many parents experience with breastfeeding when they are discharged from hospital after the birth of their baby.
